Typically, our pre-design advice service will be a meeting with all relevant persons, from clients, to architects to listed building officers, along with access to any associated plans or drawings so we get a full understanding of what is desired to be achieved and any initial limitations. Whether your looking to install a wood burning stove or construct a new open fire we are able to assist. If the project is refurbishment and renovation, we ask this meeting take place on site. We then offer an initial overview of the proposals and general points for considerations.

For some clients, this is enough to provide clear direction and feasibility and our involvement may end at this point. For the large majority of clients, we then become further involved in ongoing design, assessment and specification, setting out all options and the potential implications of each, so that a sound decision on what is best for the property and its future occupants.

For refurbishment / renovation projects, this initial pre-design service leads to flue condition inspections (or ‘CCTV survey‘ as it is commonly referred to) and a full report being provided, where a full assessment of the existing fire openings, flue shafts and chimneys has been undertaken and any potential issues not previously considered have been identified.
