With the stone ruins of Corfe Castle never far away, Trevor embarked on a 10 year career in construction, focusing on stone built and stone roofed listed and heritage properties. Working alongside other contractors and artisan tradespersons, Trevor’s knowledge, both of traditional and modern building processes and techniques and building regulations continued to grow.

In 2015, with new family members on the horizon, Trevor decided to embark on a new challenge, managing a well-established chimney, flue and solid fuel installation company. While the role afforded the opportunity to run a number of large scale fireplace and flue system refurbishment projects in high end heritage projects, as well many installations in thatch properties, Trevor recognised the lack of both technical training and practical competency available to those in the solid fuel industry.

In 2019, after being a technical member of N.A.C.E (National Association of Chimney Engineers) for a number of years, Trevor was invited to become a voluntary director, holding the role of Training Director and working alongside colleagues in the inspection and investigation team, roles still held today, while still maintaining his managerial position.

Becoming an integral part of NACE has allowed Trevor to be involved in solid fuel committees and working groups at national level. He has also assisted in providing lecture workshops and seminars to EHO’s and LABC across the country, while also inspecting sand investigating on behalf of members of the public in both disputes and damages arising from non-compliant installation works. His pursuit of knowledge and excellence has led to gaining the recognition of his industry peers as well as other construction related professionals as a technically competent consultant, relied upon to provide independent, technically competent and building regulation compliant services.

Unfortunately, in early 2021, family circumstances led to Trevor having to reluctantly leave his role managing a now successful and respected installation company.

However, not wanting  to lay waste to the technical and practical knowledge gained of the solid fuel industry, or relinquish his role as director of NACE, Quantum Chimney Services Ltd was born.

Quantum Chimney Services Ltd have continued to grow and build their reputation, as a company providing independent and specialist services focused solely on the safety and compliance of solid fuel installations, whether new or existing, serving professional persons, the public and other solid fuel industry persons.
